This site is owned and operated by Girl on the Net

I will never use your information for anything beyond that stated or the permissions you give me or as required by law.

Girl on the Net may collect, process and use your personal data (including your name [real or pseudonymous] and email address) for the purposes of running the site. This includes sending out email newsletters or processing comments left below blog posts. I use some trusted third party specialists to deliver this website, and associated services, to you in a more efficient manner.

This information is used solely for monitoring the volume of traffic the site receives and measuring the number of readers. I do not use the information for tracking the activities of specific visitors to the site. IP addresses are also stored by the WordPress CMS software when you comment.

Advertising

Girl on the Net displays adverts to all users, but the ad server is not a third-party one: it is run by Girl on the Net. It collects some basic information for the purposes of telling advertisers how many clicks they got. The only data shared with advertisers will be general, anonymised data: number of users, broad geographic location (i.e. country) etc. Any other data comes from Google analytics.

Email and Online Forms

Readers who choose to subscribe to the newsletter, leave a comment, or enter a competition may be asked to supply personal data. If permission is granted, this information may be used to contact specific users with alerts or emails that they have requested, or for the purpose of administering competitions (i.e. sending prizes).

Girl on the Net will never use your data for anything beyond the reason stated and the permissions you grant. To alter the emails which you receive from us, including unsubscribing from all email communications, please click ‘unsubscribe’ in any of the emails, or contact me using the details below.

The WordPress software records the IP address of your device when you comment, but that IP address is never published and will be removed from the system if you request to have all of your data removed.

Accessing your Data

You have certain rights under the UK’s Data Protection Act 1998 (“DPA”). You can, for instance, ask in writing to be told what information we hold about you in our databases and how that information is being processed. I will provide you with all of the details that we hold about you, both online and offline, upon request, providing we are able to do so in compliance with our obligations under the DPA.

I reserve the right to charge a £10 administration fee for this process. If you would like to request this information please use the contact details below.
